Journalist | Editor | Communications Specialist
Hi, I'm Sanam. I'm an experienced journalist who has reported for print, digital and broadcast media in Canada and abroad. My work has been published in The Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, Toronto Life, Chatelaine, Maclean's, Canadian Business, The Walrus, Best Health, the Financial Post, The National (UAE) and many other newspapers and magazines. I've also held on-air positions at Breakfast Television Edmonton and OMNI News: South Asian Edition.
I've done everything from covering a murder trial in Edmonton to interviewing a Bollywood actress in Dubai. I've reported on the challenges faced by Syrian refugees, gone undercover to explore haggling tactics, and profiled CEOs from some of Canada's largest corporations. These days, I love writing about health and wellness, social justice issues, inspirational women and marginalized communities.
In addition, I enjoy editing, particularly features. I have experience editing long-form articles for Chatelaine and The National, as well as a variety of written materials for nonprofits and small businesses.
My career journey has also led me to working in nonprofit communications. For three years, I successfully helped organizations with their internal and external communication needs, including securing extensive media coverage for them. I continue to share my expertise on a freelance basis with nonprofits and businesses looking to enhance their communication.
